Empire State Building displays projections of endangered animals on side of building

A conservationist group’s effort to capitalize on worldwide outrage over the death of a Zimbabwe lion by projecting the images of endangered species onto the Empire State Building Saturday night was meant to build sympathy for its cause.

But it stirred up its own kind of outrage instead.

While show was beautiful by many accounts, critics pointed out the hypocrisy of liberals who weep for the death of animals, while ignoring much more immediate problems for humans — like the butchery of children and sale of their body parts by abortion provide Planned Parenthood made public by the series of undercover videos released by a pro-life group in July.

The images were projected by filmmakers Travis Threlkel and Louie Psihoyos who called the event a “weapon of mass instruction,” according to the New York Times.

“We’re going to try to create something beautiful. Not bum people out.” Threlkel told the Times. “Hopefully, this is one big domino. If we can tip it, it would be great.”

Critics weren’t buying it

Such as …

On Friday, a federal judge in California — one appointed by President Obama and an activist Democrat who raised money as a bundler for the president — issued a restraining order against the pro-life group, the Center for Medical Progress, preventing it temporarily from releasing more videos about Planned Parenthood.

A restraining order on a video documenting human butchery, yet an enxhibit for endangered species at the Empire State Building wins universal applause.
