The brashness that makes GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump so appealing to voters today was just as appealing 27 years ago to an audience made up primarily of women when he appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Winfrey asked Trump about the possibility of a presidential run during his 1988 televised interview. His answer? “Probably not, but I do get tired of seeing the country ripped off.”
Familiar words coming from “The Donald.”
He added, however, that he “would never want to rule it out totally” for the future.
“I just probably wouldn’t do it, Oprah. But I do get tired of seeing what’s happening with this country,” he said.
What’s happened in six-plus years under the Obama administration explains his decision to run today.
