Donald Trump has made a lot of controversial comments during his campaign, but recent statements saying he would welcome Sarah Palin as an adviser in his future administration if he becomes president could be his boldest claim yet.
Trump was on Mama Grizzly Radio – a radio show dedicated to all things Palin – and didn’t shy away from his praise for the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate.
“She’s tough and smart, and just a great woman,” Trump said.
Show host Kevin Scholla asked Trump if he could see himself as president “picking up the phone, giving [Palin] a call, and picking her brain on some things.
“Or perhaps, having her along in some official capacity,” Scholla added.
Trump was all about that.
“I’d love that,” Trump said.
“Because she really is somebody who knows what’s happening. And she’s a special person, she’s really a special person. And I think people know that.”
Not everyone regards Palin, who’s known for ruffling feathers on both sides of the political aisle, as the same kind of “special” that Trumps does.
But Trump said neither he nor Palin should give their critics too much notice.
“Everybody loves her,” he said.
Trump said Sarah skyrocketed to popularity because she exudes “the kind of strength you just don’t see very much of anymore.”
Not much of until now, that is.
Perhaps Trump has been emulating his “inner Sarah” all along.
