Dunkin’ Donuts CEO calls NY state 71% minimum wage increase ‘absolutely outrageous’

Not many CEOs are willing to stand up to the liberal attacks on those who speak the truth about raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

But the CEO of Dunkin’ Donuts is ready.

“This is absolutely outrageous,” the doughnut franchise’s CEO Nigel Travis told CNN’s Poppy Harlow during an interview Sunday on New York state’s plan to raise its minimum wage from $8.75 an hour to $15 by the end of 2018.

“The increase is 71 percent that is proposed over three years,” Travis said.  “It’s going to affect small businesses and franchises. Probably less hiring, probably less growth. I don’t want to sound threatening about that.”

Travis also explained that the fast food industry, which is the focus of the tremendous minimum wage increase in New York, in many cases trains America’s workers in their first jobs. Those who excel earn far more than the minimum wage, he said.

Travis’s stance drew Twitter criticism, and the old liberal standby of users threatening a boycott.

Others, however, agreed.
