President Barack Obama seemed to be enjoying himself Friday while reuniting with Kenyan relatives in Nairobi.
Relatives he has had little time for until now.
Sitting next to his half-sister, Auma Obama, and step-grandmother, Mama Sarah Obama, the president was all smiles at a state dinner at the Villa Rosa Kempinski hotel.

“It was a wonderful time,” Obama said, according to NBC News. “Mostly we were just catching up.”
The president suggested he’d be back when out of office, saying he looks forward to having “more freedom to reconnect.”
While there, Obama pushed gay rights, saying at a news conference that the idea that people “are going to be treated differently or abused because of who they love is wrong.”
Homosexuality is illegal in his father’s homeland, and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta fully rejected Obama’s appeal, calling gay rights a “non-issue … not really an issue on the foremost mind of Kenyans.”
As expected, the trip was all the rage on social media. Here’s a sampling of reports and images from Twitter welcoming the “chief lecturer” home:
