Chris Matthews is not smart enough to trap Ted Cruz.
The MSNBC host repeatedly set up questions to get Cruz to make a controversial statement on illegal immigration, but the unflappable Cruz just kept pounding his message.
“I will suggest the very simple principle that we should enforce the law and we should keep violent criminals off the streets,” Cruz said before Matthews finally gave up and shifted focus to try to get Cruz to attack his Republican opponents in the 2016 presidential campaign.
Another tactic that didn’t work.
“I am running in the Republican Party,” Cruz said. “I will support the Republican nominee.”
Nice try, Mr. Matthews.
