Buckingham Palace is none too pleased with the publication of footage showing the queen performing a Nazi salute as a young girl.
The Sun, a British tabloid and wholly owned subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., posted a 17-second film from 1933 showing the queen’s uncle, Edward VIII, teaching her and her sister, Princess Margaret, how to do the salute, according to the Daily Mail.
The future Queen Elizabeth II was 7 years old at the time and her sister was 3.

A spokesman for the royal family said it was “disappointing” that the Sun had “obtained and exploited” the film in the manner it did, the Mail reported.
Thousands of British residents were outraged over the film’s release, saying the queen cannot be held responsible for her actions as a child, according to the Mail. Others said the full atrocity of the Nazis had yet to play out in 1933.
The Mail included samples of the criticism from social media.
