Donald Trump was right again; called for ban of military gun-free zones weeks ago

Trump OReillyDonald Trump was right again.

Ten days ago, the 2016 Republican presidential candidate said, in an interview with AmmoLand.com, that military members should be allowed to carry guns on base. Thursday on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” after a terrorist attack on military facilities by 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez that left four Marines dead and several other people wounded in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he blasted the “gun-free zone” policy again.

“As commander in chief, I would mandate that soldiers remain armed and on alert at our military bases,” he said in his interview with AmmoLand.

President [Bill] Clinton never should have passed a ban on soldiers being able to protect themselves on bases. America’s armed forces will be armed,” Trump added.

He said if he were elected president, military personnel “will be able to defend themselves against terrorists. Our brave soldiers should not be at risk because of a  policy created by civilian leadership. Political correctness has no place in this debate.”

He doubled down on those remarks when speaking to Fox’s Bill O’Reilly on Thursday.

“These are four great Marines from what everybody tells me, unbelievable people, and that they’re not allowed to carry guns is absolutely ridiculous,” he said of the former president’s ludicrous policy.

He also blasted President Barack Obama for policies that weaken the power of law enforcement and embolden criminal activity, and for not being able to say the words “Islamic terrorism.”

Sadly, as in the case of Kate Steinle, who was killed by an illegal Mexican immigrant in San Francisco, Trump’s words proved again to be all too accurate.

Perhaps that’s why he’s leading in the polls.
