Bill Maher calls Major Garrett a ‘huge a**hole’ – ‘why not just scream the N word’ to get POTUS’s attention?

A CNN correspondent called CBS News’ Major Garrett’s question posed to President Obama Wednesday “disrespectful” and “an embarrassment to journalism.” HBO host Bill Maher was a bit more direct.

He called Garrett an ” a**hole,” adding “why not just scream the N word” to get POTUS’s attention?

During the president’s press conference on the Iran Nuke deal, Garrett asked about the four American prisoners that Iran has in its custody. “As you well know, there are four Americans in Iran, three held on trumped-up charges according to your administration and one, whereabouts unknown,” Garrett began. “Can you tell the country, sir, why you are content with all the fanfare around this deal to leave the conscience of this nation, the strength of this nation unaccounted for in relation to these four Americans?”

Not everyone agreed, though. National Review’s Charles C.W. Cooke had a one-word description of Maher’s tweet:

Though Maher did manage to get some support, it was quickly shut down and followed up with a history lesson directed at Maher.

And finally there was this observation:

Lesson learned: If a reporter asks a tough question of a Republican president, he’s just doing his job.

Do the same with a Democratic president, and he’s being a bully — or worse.
