Uniformed cop AMBUSHED after black teen’s shooting; manhunt for gang scours St. Louis

St. Louis police are scouring the city in a manhunt for four men who shot a police officer in his car early Tuesday morning in an “ambush” possibly staged as a revenge attack for the shooting of a black teenaged gunman by an officer on Saturday.

According to a tweet from St. Louis City Police Chief Sam Dotson, the officer’s ballistic vest saved his life.

From Fox 2 Now:

The 39-year-old sergeant is a sixteen year veteran of the force. Investigators say he was sitting in his personal car, in full uniform, while working secondary patrol. They believe the officer may have been ambushed by the assailants.

Police are actively searching for four African-American males who fled the scene in a gray or silver Ford Taurus. One suspect may have been injured.

Fox 2 added that the gunman could be between 18 and 22 years old with facial hair.

Sadly, this is becoming an altogether too familiar scenario and folks are tweeting their support for the officer and their disgust.

More details were reported via Twitter:

There’s reason to believe the shooting stemmed from protests that had developed yesterday in St. Louis over the shooting of 16-year-old Brandon Claxton.

According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch the teenager was holding a gun when the officer shot him three times Saturday night. Claxton is reportedly paralyzed as a result of his injuries.
