Buffalo Wild Wings buys Corona for dead soldier; puts fresh lime in it each day

A Washington state restaurant will likely see a surge in business after a good deed for two U.S. soldiers went viral via social media.

Brian Avery, a server at Buffalo Wild Wings in Tacoma, Wash., explained what happened on July 9 in a Facebook post that has since spread like wildfire, when a “military woman” sat down and ordered a Blue Moon and a Corona.

A Military Woman came into my work today for Lunch, she ordered a Blue Moon and a Corona, I told her she could only do…

Avey explained to the veteran that ordering two beers at once wasn’t allowed.

But that all changed when she told Avey the Corona was for her brother, who died serving in Iraq.

“It just sat next to her at an empty seat her entire Lunch,” Avey wrote on his Facebook page. “When I brought her bill I told her Buffalo Wild Wings will be buying that beer …”

The vet left a kind note on her receipt that read, “Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day. – Grateful Soldiers”

The impact of the lunchtime interaction had a lasting effect.

“After she left, I didn’t have the heart to dump the beer out and throw it away, so I put it on top of the cooler next [to] the American Flag,” Avey wrote.

But the story gets even better when Avey described his boss’ reaction to the newly placed beer as “amazing.”

“I just can’t throw this beer away,” the bar manager told KIRO 7. Instead he told Avey, “Let’s keep it. Just make sure that we change out the lime every day.”

According to KIRO 7, the restaurant has been receiving calls of gratitude from all over the world.

Avey’s Facebook post has gotten well over 70,000 likes and counting. Here are some responses:
