Could Hillary have handled it?
During the 2015 Miss USA pageant that aired on Reelz Sunday — after Univision and NBC both dropped it following 2016 Republican presidential contender Donald Trump’s remarks on illegal immigration — viewers noticed that the contestants were being asked tougher questions than those asked of presumptive 2016 Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
“The Confederate flag, excessive force by police and same-sex marriage are all recent, hot-button issues in our country. What do you think will be the next that we need to tackle on a national level?” the judges asked eventual winner Miss Oklahoma USA, Olivia Jordan.
“The United States has agreed to formally reopen its embassy in Cuba. Do you think this change will be a positive one for both countries?” was asked of Miss Maryland USA, Mame Adjei.
That’s a far cry from asking which woman should be on the $10 bill or who the best Hillary Clinton impersonator is on “Saturday Night Live” — a questions CNN’s Brianna Keilar actually asked Clinton.
The Twitterverse mocked the disparity.
