Comedian John Oliver, host of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight,” aired an embarrassing montage Sunday of Whoopi Goldberg defending an accused rapist, a convicted rapist and men accused of beating up women, among other questionable types.
They weren’t Whoopi’s finest moments.
Interestingly, the video was introduced with little commentary, so it’s not clear what Oliver’s motivation was. It remains to be seen whether Whoopi and her supporters push back.

Titled “Whoopi Goldberg defends 10 Surprising Things,” the video features “The View” co-host giving the benefit of doubt people like Bill Cosby — who denies drugging women to rape them — and film director Roman Polanski, who fled the country in 1978 after pleading guilty to having sex with a drugged 13-year-old.
Despite more than 40 complaints against Cosby, Goldberg said in one clip that he “has not been proven a rapist,” and in another said of Polanski, “I don’t believe it was rape-rape.”
She is also seen casting doubt on the moon landing, and discussing her own career goals.
