Ignoring the cold shoulder many in the Democratic Party have given him, Alan Grayson, the bombastic congressman from Florida, announced Thursday morning that he is running for the U.S. Senate.
“It’s going to be famous. What people see of us doing in this race is going to live until the end of time,” Grayson said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “This is going to be the first race, the first real political race of the 21st century.”
Oh, this is going to be good.
Ignoring the ominous warning from key Democratic donor and Obama bundler John Morgan, who said he was committing “political suicide,” Grayson will take on fellow Democratic U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy for the seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who is running for president.
What was Grayson’s response to Morgan?
“I think John should lay off the Scotch at least until noon,” the outspoken Democrat said.
Oh, this is going to be good.

Murphy is supported by the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., and nearly 20 other Senate Democrats, according to Sunshine State News.
Some in the party are worried Grayson, a hard-left candidate, may win the primary and then get crushed in the general election, hurting Hillary Clinton’s prospects in the state.
But Grayson is not to be deterred.
“When we put up a pseudo-Democrat or a neo-Democrat or a quasi-Democrat or a semi-Democrat for Team Blue, our voters are not amused,” he said, dismissing his opposition.
“The voters deserve a choice,” he added. “In fact, they insist on it. Or they simply won’t vote.”
Oh, this is going to be good.
As for the reaction on social media in the lead up to his announcement, it can be summed up with one quote: “Let this crazy bastard run!”
