Enemy territory? No problem; Ted Cruz schools Chris Matthews in MSNBC interview

Ted Cruz must be getting used to unfriendly territory.

After the Texas senator and Republican presidential hopeful took his case against illegal immigration to the Hispanic-oriented network Univision — and sparred with activist host Jorge Ramos — Cruz was at it again in a 16-minute-plus MSNBC interview with the ever-combative host Chris Matthews.

And Matthews never laid a glove on him.

In the “Hardball with Chris Matthews” interview, Matthews hit Cruz on a laundry list of subjects — Donald Trump, former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decisions on Obamacare and same-sex marriage, normalization of relations with Cuba — in the host’s usual contentious, staccato style.

Through it all, the senator remained cool and collected as he made his way through the confrontation in Cruz control.
