Nothing beats a politically embarrassing murder to focus the Democrat mind.
In the wake of last week’s shooting death of an innocent woman at the hands of an illegal alien on a San Francisco pier, top Democrats like Hillary Clinton and California Sen. Dianne Feinstein are shocked that Democrat-dominated cities have been thumbing their noses at immigration laws for decades.
And now they’re demanding someone do something about it.
“The city made a mistake, not to deport someone that the federal government strongly felt should be deported,” Clinton said Tuesday, according to Fox News. “So I have absolutely no support for a city that ignores the strong evidence that should be acted on.”
That’s a sharp contrast to Hillary during the year before her last run for the presidency, when she declared that sanctuary policies help “the personal safety and security of all the citizens.”
Joining the newly tough-on-crime Hillary was Feinstein, a former mayor of San Francisco (she left the mayor’s office to run for governor before the city’s “sanctuary ordinance” was passed in 1989.)
“I strongly believe that an undocumented individual, convicted of multiple felonies and with a detainer request from ICE, should not have been released,” Feinstein said, according to Fox.
“We should focus on deporting convicted criminals, not setting them loose on our streets.”
Whatever other faults Feinstein has, you can’t say she has endless patience for lawbreakers. By the time he killed Kathryn Steinle, San Francisco gunman Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez had racked up four felony convictions and served more than 17 years in prison served for drug charges and entering the country illegally. (But “we’re a nation of immigrants!”)
So, the San Francisco sheriff and federal authorities are trying to put the blame on each other for an illegal alien being on the loose, and liberal Democrats are trying to sound like Donald Trump when it comes to illegal aliens with “multiple felonies.” By the time it gets finished, they’re hoping voters will forget that Democrats are the party of “sanctuary cities” and amnesty, and the “path to citizenship” that looks a lot like the path to the welfare line.
That’s because Hillary wants to be the president, and Feinstein wants to help her. And they both know that no matter what the lunatic Democrat base might rant, Hillary needs to win a general election.
And they know most normal voters who would rather not have their wives and husbands, sons and daughters murdered by Mexican criminals who would be in prison if it weren’t for political correctness.
Nothing beats a politically embarrassing murder to focus the mind.
But nothing gets by the alert social media user either.
