Obama ‘scares’ ISIS: ‘Ideologies are not defeated with guns, they’re defeated by better ideas’

He must have been watching the news again.

President Obama took his gift for stating the obvious to new heights Monday during a speech at the Pentagon where he described the Western fight agains Islamic terror as a “long-term campaign” and a “generational struggle.”

But then he declared the United States and its allies will win with “better ideas.”

“Ideologies are not defeated with guns, they’re defeated by better ideas, a more attractive and compelling vision,” Obama said.

Actually, good ideas are terrific, but guns help a lot when the other guy has them and is willing to use them on terrified civilian populations. (That’s why he gave the speech after a series of meetings at the Pentagon and not at, say, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.)

Republicans – and the rest of the country – have heard this song before, though, and it started long before Obama took office.

In a statement, House Speaker John Boehner pointed out the president who declared only three weeks ago that “we don’t have a complete strategy” to fight the islamic State still doesn’t have a complete strategy.

“A speech isn’t a strategy. At no point in his remarks did President Obama indicate he’s doing anything to change course and actually build the broad, overarching plan that’s needed to take on these savage terrorists and win.”

U.S. Sen. John McCain called the speech an example that something is seriously wrong with the narcissist in the White House.

“President Obama’s comments today reveal the disturbing degree of self-delusion that characterizes the administration’s campaign” against ISIS.

He wasn’t the only on who question Obama’s faith in good ideas (which seem to be in short supply in the White House anyway).

Other critics pointed out that this is a president who declared “climate change” is a national threat to the United States and warned Coast Guard Academy graduates that it was fueling the rise of terrorists — including the Islamic State’s affiliates like Boko Haram in Africa.
