Adios, Geraldo! Coulter vs. Rivera immigration clash filled with jabs, and a clear winner

Best-selling conservative author Ann Coulter squared off against Geraldo Rivera over illegal immigration for “The Kelly File” audience Tuesday night – and the former newsman-turned –drunk-tweeter – didn’t come off a winner.

After host Megyn Kelly kicked things off with a clip from Donald Trump’s now-famous speech presidential announcement speech denouncing illegal immigration, the most telling part about the debate was the way Geraldo tried to play to emotion over reality. (That and a civility you’ll never find on an MSNBC program with a conservative on the screen.)

“I’ve been to all these neighborhoods …. I’ve seen the immigrant vitality … We’re all immigrants here,” he said. (Like every illegal immigrant is like the Martini family in “It’s a Wonderful Life” instead of Tony Montana in “Scarface.”)

Coulter sees the Democrat courting of illegal immigrants as part of a generational-long plot to seize power permanently and her book doesn’t make any bones about it. (It’s called “Adios America: The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third-World Hell-Hole.”)

“These are not people who have a right to be here,” she said. “Immigration is a government policy like any other and it ought to be used to benefit the people already living here. There should not be any criminals coming in.”

Sane people might take something for granted. The fact that that’s even a question — much less a controversial one, says a lot about Democrats.

It might say it all.
