A National Football League player learned the hard way that in the United StatesĀ in 2015, free speech is an endangered species in the court of public opinion, soĀ he apologized for tweets thatĀ seemed toĀ question if Friday’sĀ Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage could lead to acceptance ofĀ pedophilia.
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Josh Robinson took to Twitter in a series of tweets, and the backlash was immediate.
In a world where dissenting opinions are frowned on by the ātolerantā left,Ā Robinson faced such a severe reprisal that he had to make his account private and issue an apology.
“I apologize for any offense my tweets may have caused,” he said in a text message to the Star Tribune.ā In an attempt to express my beliefs, I created some confusion with my choice of words, and for that I apologize. I do not equate the Supreme Courtās decision on marriage equality with other social issues. There are obvious differences. However, I do believe that Godās laws will always supersede manās laws. This belief is not from hate for anyone but from a love for my God and all those he created. Again, Iām sorry!ā
