ISIS releases savage execution video of cage drowning: ‘No longer enough to behead’

A new video from the Islamic State terrorists is boasting gleefully about its treatment of prisoners.

According to the SITE Intelligence Group the barbaric group released a new video Tuesday that claims to show the executions of spies and apostates in new, more horrific ways.

In the video, 16 prisoners say they were treated well by ISIS before 15 of them are murdered, Fox News reported.

One group of victims are killed while sitting in a car in a drone style attack while a second group is executed by having their heads blown off by explosives wrapped around their necks.

A third group is locked in a cage — reminiscent of the cage where Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh was burned alive — then lowered into a pool and drowned.

“While ISIS likes the shock factor, these executions are chosen to show their compliance with Sharia law,” national security analyst Ryan Mauro told Fox News. “ISIS is acting upon doctrines that say spies and apostates, those who leave Islam, are to be executed.

“ISIS will argue that these specific methods are justifiable according to Islam as they see it, and that they are not being barbaric just for the sake of it,” he said. “Even its executions are an attempt to portray ISIS as the most legitimate followers of Islam.”

Mauro said even the beginning of the all-Arabic language video that shows the prisoners being interviewed on how well they were treated by the group serves a purpose.

“The group includes this because it needs to be seen as humane,” he said. “It’s hard to believe, but it implies that ISIS recognizes it has a negative image and wants to change that while still remaining brutal.”

According to Veryan Khan, of the U.S.-based Terrorism Research & Analysis Consortium, the shock factor was raised to gain more international attention.

“Islamic State’s propaganda machine is so prolific that it has to keep coming up with new ways to shock the world and impress their fan club. This means that they have to up the ante in order to gain more attention for each new release,” he told Fox News.

“What is shocking is the style of each execution – it is no longer enough to behead, or to behead 21 men simultaneously, to burn them alive, or shoot them in mass firing squads. They must offer a triptych of executions, each more savage than the last,” he added.

The video ends with one prisoner left, standing around decapitated prisoners in the desert with no explanation as to why this one man was spared.

So far, anyway.
