Online auction giant eBay is taking some heat for hypocrisy.
The website is one of the latest companies to join the politically correct frenzy to remove the rebel flag for its “racist” symbolism, but there’s one minor problem: Sales of swastika-decorated material abound — a much more blatant symbol of white supremacy.
The “Take Down The Flag” movement started after Dylann Roof shot and killed nine black people in a Charleston, S.C., church a week ago and has gained momentum since, with company after company removing flag-themed merchandise.
According to Ebay’s Offensive Material Policy regarding Nazi material:
We recognize the historical significance of World War II and that there are many militaria collectors around the world. We allow some related historical items, but ban others, particularly those that amount to Nazi propaganda, or that are disrespectful to victims.
Apparently items that depict that Confederate flag have no Civil War historical significance.
The Twitterverse blasted the company for what many called a double standard.
so @ebay will ban Confederate flags but … http://t.co/XgTiR6kN6I

So let me get this right. Confederate flag which symbolizes Southerness/history is bad, but Nazi stickers ok? @eBay pic.twitter.com/Tr1d6MrygA

So @eBay sells Nazi memorabilia with swastikas on it, but is banning the sale of Confederate flag memorabilia? Way to go with the flow.

I’m a Jew who has seen many Nazi items for sale on Ebay and other places – Never once wanted to ban any of it https://t.co/pYenNpAPgw
