The new face hosting “Red Eye” on Fox is a veteran comedian, but he’s not shying away from serious business.
Stand-up comedian Tom Shillue made his debut appearance Monday with a panel discussion of the Confederate flag (the chlamydia comparison was a little jolting) and President Obama’s using the “n-word” in an interview (the Lyndon Johnson joke was perfect).
Regular Fox viewers should recognize comedian Shillue — he’s been a familiar face on the network’s daytime winners like “The Five” and “Outnumbered,” but now he’s heading into a late, late time slot to take over for Greg Gutfeld on the aptly named “Red Eye” airing at 3 a.m. Shillue is also no stranger to late-night television.
He’s a former “Daily Show” correspondent and a veteran of appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” That doesn’t mean fame has gone to his head, though. And judging by the promo Fox released with the announcement, it’s not going to anytime soon.
