When Barack Obama accepted the Democratic presidential nomination in June 2008, he talked about it being a moment “when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.”
While acknowledging the journey would be difficult, Obama said he would “face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people.”

So much for that theory.
With Obama now in the sunset of his second term as president of the United States, he expressed frustration Thursday about his inability to deliver lasting change while speaking at a Los Angeles fundraiser.
But he made it clear it wasn’t his fault. Oh, no, of course not.
“When I ran in 2008, I in fact did not say I would fix it. I said we could fix it,” Obama said, according to The Washington Post. “I didn’t say, ‘Yes, I can.’ I said, ‘Yes, we can.'”
In other words, it’s the American people’s fault. Of course.

But there was plenty of blame to go around.
The president pointed to the dysfunction in Washington while talking about a letter he received from a disillusioned supporter, the Post reported
“You’re right, I am frustrated,” Obama said he told the man. “[And] you have every right to be frustrated, because Congress doesn’t work the way it should. Issues are left unattended. Folks are more interested in scoring political points than getting things done.”
As news hit social media that “we’ve failed him,” as AllahPundit perfectly put it, people were quick to respond with their own two cents.
