When Trey Gowdy’s in charge, closed-door means closed door.
Gowdy, the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, escorted fellow Republican heavyweight Darrell Issa of California out of a hearing room Tuesday where Clinton family hatchet man Sidney Blumenthal was testifying about the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012, when Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.

Issa is the former chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and a known scourge of the Obama administration on the Hill, but he’s not a member of Gowdy’s Select Committee on Benghazi. And that means he wasn’t allowed in the closed hearing. As The Hill reported:
Issa marched into the closed-door deposition and remained inside for about a minute before he was escorted out by the panel’s chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.). The pair briefly exchanged hushed words in a nearby hallway before Issa stormed off, throwing an empty soda can into a nearby trash bin.
Gowdy declined to talk about the incident later, according to The Hill, but that didn’t stop commenters on social media, of course. Many praised the South Carolina Republican for making sure the select committee’s rules are being followed — even if it’s a fellow Republican trying to sit in.
@LindaSuhler @drscott_atlanta It was closed hearing, Issa had no “right” to be there only Committee members…Gowdy is part Boy Scout. — david w. thompson (@dwthompson1945) June 17, 2015
@LindaSuhler GOOD for @TGowdySC! That’s why WE LOVE HIM! Issa doesn’t need to insert himself in those hearings! #PJNET #Benghazi — Judy Stines (@jstines3) June 17, 2015

Apparently, Issa did not like being told he had to follow the rules. Gowdy says, “I’m a prosecutor, we always follow the rules.” — Luke Russert (@LukeRussert) June 16, 2015
Democrats and liberals on social media had a good time making fun of the perceived clash between the two Republicans, but Americans watching the committee’s progress are just looking for results.
@LukeRussert @stephenfhayes If I was being deposed last person I would want to see is Gowdy. Issa almost as bad
