Reporter barred from Hillary event fights back, ‘This is something we’ve seen in other countries we don’t want to emulate’

A journalist barred from covering a Hillary Clinton campaign event on Monday speculates the act was in retaliation for honest reporting, and laid out the details on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” to fight back.

David Martosko of the Daily Mail had already been selected by fellow journalists to be the pool reporter for a Clinton campaign stop in New Hampshire – only once Martosko arrived, he was denied access.

“The Daily Mail is a very dogged, thorough reporting organization, and we don’t tend to show up and do what we’re told… and a lot of those stories the Clinton’s don’t like,” Martosko told host Megyn Kelly.

In other words, the Daily Mail doesn’t carry the Clinton water, and in this day and age, that will get you shunned.

“I was embarrassed, as a journalist to see how many journalists reported on Saturday only what the Clinton campaign wanted them to,” Martosko said. “We have a duty to do more than that,” he said.

“But I think the Clinton campaign, at this point, doesn’t have a lot of tolerance for reporters who stray outside the lines.”

Martosko apparently strayed way outside the lines on Saturday when he tweeted his dissatisfaction with the reporting he was referring to.

The Daily Mail also broke the story about Clinton’s inauthentic “meet and greet” in an Iowa coffee shop last April where she sat down with three Democrat operatives posing as random customers.

These are journalistic acts that many speculate led to Martosko’s banishment.

Martosko told Kelly it was the third time he was denied media access by the Clinton camp. While he said Clinton is free to choose who she answers questions from, she does not get to decide who covers the events.

Kelly agreed.

“This is just one thing that [Clinton] doesn’t get to control,” she said. “We the press get to decide very few things, but one of them is, who’s going to go in there and represent us.”

It’s that pesky little something protected under the First Amendment known as freedom of the press.

“This is something we’ve seen in other countries that we don’t’ want to emulate,” Martosko said.

“I was told ‘you need to leave,’” he said. “I find that unacceptable and offensive.”

Tweeters who had been following the story throughout the day, were outraged, but not surprised:

According to Martosko, he wasn’t even allowed to use the bathroom.
