Romney shreds Hillary on ‘Morning Joe’: She smiles, but her eyes say ‘where’s my latte?’

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney offered an unflattering — though many would say dead-on accurate — assessment of presumed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during Monday’s appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“She smiles with her mouth but her eyes say, ‘Where’s my latte,’ “ he said, while co-host Joe Scarborough could be heard laughing.

Fresh from a weekend hosting GOP presidential hopefuls at his summit in Deer Valley, Utah, dubbed “Camp Mitt” by the media, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee was asked at about the 2:20 mark by co-host Mika Brzezinski what he thought of Clinton’s “sort of secondary rollout during the weekend and the messages that she sent.”

“I thought the text touched the various places she needs to touch to try and keep her base intact,” he answered, before adding that her delivery appeared false.

“Somehow, though, when you see her on a stage or when she comes into a room full of people, she is smiling with her mouth, but her eyes are saying, ‘where’s my latte?’” Romney said.

“It doesn’t suggest that she believes everything she’s saying. I was afraid as I watched the speech, in some respects perhaps it was that it’s so different than what she said in the past that I was finding it a bit jarring. I’m sure she’ll become more effective as time goes on. At this stage, what does she really believe? I think people wonder, can they really trust Hillary Clinton?”

Indeed, a CNN/ORC poll released early this month suggests that voters’ trust in Clinton has been steadily declining
