Marco Rubio throws Hillary’s big speech back in her face; who’s really the candidate of ‘Yesterday’?

Presidential hopeful Sen. Marco Rubio wasted no time going on the offensive against Hillary Clinton’s relaunch of her own presidential campaign, issuing an advertisement only hours after Clinton’s speech Saturday to mock he claims of being a candidate for the future.

The Florida Republican’s ad begins with a clip from the Clinton re-launch in which she makes reference to a classic Beatles song, likening it to Republican party candidates.

“There may be some new voices in the Republican choir,” she said of the GOP’s 2016 field. “But they’re all singing the same old song – A song called ‘Yesterday.’”

“You know the one – ‘All our troubles are here to stay, and we need a place to hide away,’” Hillary Clinton quipped. “They believe in yesterday.”

Then the ad moves to a short clip taken from Rubio’s speech at his own presidential campaign launch at Miami’s Freedom Tower.

“Yesterday is over, and we’re never going back,” Rubio begins.

“We Americans are proud of our history, but our country has always been about the future,” he adds.

“Before us now is the opportunity to author the greatest chapter yet in the amazing story of America. But we can’t do that by going back to the leaders and the ideas of the past.”

His message was clear — the Clintons are from the past. The message could also be taken to include the Bushes.

“We must change the decisions we are making by changing the people who are making them,” Rubio concludes.

Social media users were solidly on Rubio’s side.

And the second Clinton rollout reminded one Twitter user of yet a different Beatles classic.
