Race-relations explosion breaks up ‘Hannity’ panel: ‘George Zimmerman was right?’

A discussion on  race relations in America exploded into acrimony Wednesday on Sean Hannity’s show Wednesday when the Fox News host observed that President Obama got it wrong when he rushed to judgment on the Trayvon Martin case.

Hannity was discussing race relations in America with Pastor Marcus Mosiah Jarvis and criminal defense attorney Eric Guster, when, at about the 2:25 mark, he referred to the president as a “three-time loser.”

“The president shouldn’t rush to judgement on a high-profile race incident, where he’s a three-time loser,” Hannity said. “Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown –”

Guster interrupted Hannity before he could add the name Henry Louis Gates. Gates is the black university professor who was arrested for disorderly conduct when Cambridge police officers responded to a 911 breaking and entering call in 2009.

When Obama was asked for his thoughts of the incident, he replied, “I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts,” but nonetheless claimed that race could have played a role and added, “the Cambridge police acted stupidly.”

But Guster didn’t give Hannity the chance to complete his thought — he was focused on another name.

“I disagree with that,” he told Hannity. “I totally disagree with that. So you’re saying that George Zimmerman was right?”

“Absolutely,” Hannity said.

As his guests began arguing, Hannity gave his reasoning: Eyewitnesses had observed Martin on top of Zimmerman, he said, bashing Zimmerman’s head against the concrete as he screamed for help. The aggressor was Martin, Hannity said, not Zimmerman.

And that made the shooting self-defense, Hannity said.

“Facts and evidence are different than rushing to judgment like our constitutional president does,” he concluded.
