‘Crying to go kilogram?’ Krauthammer calls out Dem’s ‘metric platform’ for the joke it is

Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer mocked former Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee for making “going metric” a campaign issue in his presidential bid.

It’s statements like this coming from challengers to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the presidency that are turning the Democratic primary into “a farce,” he said.

The panel on Fox News’ “Special Report” agreed that Clinton has the nomination wrapped up, despite her dwindling appeal with voters overall.

“She has the nomination,” Krauthammer said. “She has no serious challengers. Bernie Sanders is not going to be the Democratic nominee, or anyone else.”

At that point Fox News anchor Bret Baier brought up Chafee, who announced his candidacy earlier Wednesday at George Mason University.

“Let’s join the rest of the world and go metric,” Chafee said during his announcement. “I happened to live in Canada, and they completed the process. Believe me, it’s easy. It doesn’t take long before 34 degrees is high. Only Myanmar, Liberia and the United States aren’t metric. And it will help our economy.”

Krauthammer thought it ridiculous to make this an issue.

“The passion of that statement is really rather overwhelming,” Krauthammer joked. “And this is a country crying out to go kilogram. You can hear it everywhere you go. They want to go metric. And this is one of the major issues of our time.”

It was one more reason Clinton has thev nomination sewn up, he remarked.

“When Hillary has only three challengers and he’s one of them, you know this nomination race is a farce. She has the nomination, barring an act of God.”

People have been talking going metric since at least the early 1960s, and nothing has ever come of it.
