Mobs surround paralyzed cops who FEAR being arrested, Baltimore turning into ‘Wild West’

With violent crime skyrocketing in Baltimore while arrests plummet, police are worried they may be arrested for simply doing their job.

In the wake of a backlash against police in the city, former prosecutor Katie Phang told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren that cops are feeling they’re damned if they do, and damned if they don’t.

Pointing to Baltimore City state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby, Phang said the prosecutor has “created a culture of fear.”

“The sad part about it is the crooks are winning, the bad guys out on the street are winning,” criminal defense attorney Ted Williams said. “They see what’s going on between the administration and police officers.”

Fox News host Sean Hannity noted on Thursday’s program that police say they’re being surrounded by mobs when they arrive to crime locations and that they fear taking action.

Residents in the same neighborhoods that resorted to rioting over perceived police brutality are now complaining that they’ve been abandoned by law enforcement, The Associated Press reported.

And the result has left some neighborhoods “like the Wild West without a lawman around,” according to the news agency.

Antoinette Perrine, whose brother was shot three weeks ago, has added metal slabs inside her window to deflect flying bullets.

Baltimore mayor snaps under Fox News grilling; ‘You’re being rude!’

“I’m afraid to go outside,” Perrine told the Associated Press. “It’s so bad, people are afraid to let their kids outside. People wake up with shots through their windows.”

“Police used to sit on every corner, on the top of the block. These days? They’re nowhere.”

Donnail “Dreads” Lee, who lives in the public housing complex where Freddie Gray was apprehended, described what it’s like now.

“Before it was over-policing. Now there’s no police,” he said.

“People feel as though they can do things and get away with it,” Lee added. “I see people walking with guns almost every single day, because they know the police aren’t pulling them up like they used to.”
