An artist from Texas is the latest victim of the feminist wrath that has taken over any last semblance of common sense and civil discourse.
The uproar started when a women named Ash Hernandez visited the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, and snapped a photo of an innocent statue she later sent to her feminist friend – only the two friends didn’t find the statue innocent at all.
The bronze sculpture depicts a woman sitting on a bench and a man standing beside her, with his leg on the bench, as they appear to be engaging in conversation.
Hernandez’s friend, Cathy de la Cruz tweeted the photo with the caption “#Mansplaining The Statue.”

Mansplaining, according to a Google search, is the term used when a man explains something to a woman, “in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing.”
Hence, feminists in the Twittersphere took the bait and the photo went viral.
The story was picked up by the New York Times which found the sculpture, by Paul Tadlock, is named “Classmates.” And was dedicated at the University of the Incarnate Word in 2006.
“The statue has long-symbolized the friendship and camaraderie that develops among students as they attend UIW,” Carl E. Myers, communications specialist at UIW told the Times.
“We are deeply saddened that this image of friendship has been misconstrued as a symbol of sexism on social media. Nothing could be further from the truth.”
What does truth have to do with anything anymore?
Truth plays second fiddle when a bunch of misguided feminists see a chance to promote their agenda through the further victimization of women – even if they happen to be statues.
As feminists sounded off, rational heads tried to reason, and the whole thing took on a life of its own.
@SadDiego @michaeldthomas I feel like I need to visit the statue and wait for the wisdom to pour out from the wise mansplainer. ;p — lesley h (@lesley_joy) May 23, 2015

What you see is in the eyes of the beholder as they say. And some eyes are seeing a new phenomenon taking root… “manspreading.”
This statue perfectly shows #Mansplaining and #Manspreading in one http://t.co/q7I61ABAGO pic.twitter.com/MdKMXNzx4r

Artists might want to consult feminists before procuring any new work to avoid future collective meltdowns – or not.
