Business owner takes bullet to groin to prove his Nutshellz jockstrap works

Some entrepreneurs are crazy and some are just plain nuts.

Many would say Jeremiah Raber, 38, of Missouri is the latter.

He is the inventor of Nutshellz which he claims is the strongest jockstrap in the world.

Just how strong?

Strong enough to take a bullet.

And to prove it, Raber wore a Nutshellz jockstrap while his business partner, Matt Heck, shot him in the groin.

“I wanted to know what my product felt like when hit by a bullet and we used a .22 long rifle,” Raber told the New York Post. “I wasn’t worried about the triggerman missing, but there was a bit of worry about the bullet skidding off the cup. But I was protected in the vital areas around the cup.”

Raber said the strap is constructed with the “strongest materials known to man.”

“The first is made with Kevlar and carbon fiber and is primarily for heavy impact sports such as hockey, baseball, cricket and MMA,” he said. “The second cup is for police and the military and has a higher-strength material at its core called Dyneema — which is half the weight of Kevlar and is twice as strong.”

While the original product was designed for police, soldiers, mixed martial arts fighters and others in dangerous lines of work,Raber has now launched a Kickstarter campaign to design a youth model of the cup.

A protective cup generally sells between $10 – $30, but Nutshellz range from $69.99 – $140.00.

“I guess guys have to ask themselves how much are their nuts worth?” Raber said.
