Even as a baby-faced 20-year-old college student, future Baltimore prosecutor and up and coming activist Marilyn Mosby was willing to go before the cameras in the pursuit of justice, appearing on an episode of the reality court TV show “Judge Judy.”
Even then, she had a problem with law enforcement.
The 35-year-old state’s attorney responsible for filing charges against six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, won a judgement of nearly $2,000 on the show in a bizarre case where a neighbor moved into her apartment when she went home for the summer, the New York Daily News reported.
An undergraduate at Tuskegee University in Alabama, Mosby returned to find her apartment “filthy,” with clear signs that someone had been living there.
“It was total disrespect,” Mosby told Judge Judy in a successful argument. “Basically, my apartment was a wreck.”
The neighbor, Ryan Johnson, played the ignorance card to no avail. Claiming someone broke into the apartment, he said he had no idea what had happened.
Judge Judy didn’t buy it.
“I feel like, finally, there was some justice served,” Mosby said at the conclusion of the case.
As the news of Mosby’s “Judge Judy” appearance hit social media, more than one user noted her “disdain for law enforcement.”
Here’s a sampling from Twitter:
@DefendWallSt She wanted desperately to be on TV back then. “I’ll make ya famous!”

@DefendWallSt obviously Marilyn Mosby has changed her position on “giving people space.”

@TwitchyTeam So he looted her apartment? Not his fault. It was white privilege that made him do it.

@TwitchyTeam I noted her disdain for law enforcement.
