Obama ‘borders on delusion’ in speech to military grads, O’Reilly says

Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly hammered President Obama on Friday for telling Coast Guard Academy graduates that global climate change is the country’s immediate national security risk.

While the Islamic State cements its hold on Ramadi in Iraq and Palmyra in Syria, Obama told a Connecticut audience Friday that “climate change constitutes a serious threat to global security, an immediate risk to our national security, and – make no mistake – it will impact how our military defends our country.”

In the Talking Points segment of “The O’Reilly Factor,” the Fox News host said the president believes that “events such as the drought in Nigeria, for example, creates instability and makes it easier for groups like Boko Haram to gain support.”

O’Reilly said Obama claims that the United States is degrading Islamic State forces, though the president acknowledged there have been setbacks.

“With ISIS now controlling about half the country of Syria, I’d say ‘setbacks’ might be a little too gentle,” O’Reilly said.

When it comes to Obama’s priorities, O’Reilly said the president should stick with the here and now.

“I mean it’s fine to want a cleaner planet. I do. And it’s good to explore ways to eliminate harmful emissions. Every sane person supports that,” he said. “But to tell a group of military graduates that climate change is a defense priority borders on delusion.”

O’Reilly said savages are bent on destroying America and the civilized world, “and the president is presenting climate change as a military priority.”

“That’s like George Washington telling his troops at Valley Forge to concentrate on making wax candles and apple cider,” he said. “Good grief!”

While O’Reilly gave Obama credit for taking out bin Laden and using drones to attack terrorist leaders, he said, “the Middle East is aflame, yet the president urging the Coast Guard and other military branches to contemplate climate change.”
