Ferguson makes a permanent memorial to the THUG who put it on the map; social media mockery follows

File this under absurd.

Michael Brown, who was shot and killed while attacking Officer Darren Wilson last August in Ferguson, Mo., will now have a permanent memorial at the spot where he was killed.

Brown became such a symbol for the anti-police movement that has been sweeping the country that radicals have come from far and wide to create a make-shift memorial by leaving flowers and teddy bears at the spot where he was shot.

However, the memorial kept getting vandalized, possibly because the classy people leaving flowers for a thug weren’t exactly pristine. So the city decided to remedy that by permanently glorifying this criminal who was caught on video robbing a convenience store and physically intimidating the store owner.

(“Build a jail” instead, one social media user snorted.)

The thug’s plaque was unveiled at the Ferguson Community Center where Brown’s father Michael Brown Sr. appeared with Ferguson Mayor James Knowles, according to the Huffington Post.

Knowles said in a press release that he knows the “situation is not easy for all parties involved,” however the “event will forever be a part of Ferguson’s history.”

The plaque shows a picture of Brown in his graduation cap and gown with the following words,

I would like the memory of Michael Brown to be a happy one. He left an afterglow of smiles when life was done. He leaves an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy and loving times and bright sunny days. He’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that he left behind when he was done.

The Twitterverse was not amused that a criminal was being honored with a plaque.
