Rand Paul landed a hard body blow to Hillary Clinton that brought the Benghazi terrorist attack from 2012 squarely back into the presidential race for 2016.
Speaking at the Iowa Republican Party’s Lincoln Dinner on Saturday in Des Moines, Paul said next year’s presumptive Democrat should be disqualified by her failures as secretary of state to prevent the attack in Benghazi — not to mention the subsequent blame she placed on an Internet video the Obama administration initially said incited the attack.
The American ambassador to Libya and three other Americans died in the Sept. 11, 2012, assault on the American outpost in Benghazi, Libya.
“I think Hillary Clinton, by her failure to defend Benghazi, be her failure to defend the ambassador, should forever preclude her from holding higher office,” he said.
He said Clinton was derelict in her duty to protect the ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, and the other Americans killed in the attack.
“The one thing you have to do as commander in chief is defend America and her interests,” he said.
He also blamed Clinton for the failure of a post-Gadhafi state in Libya.
“Gadhafi is gone, but what’s left?” Paul asked.
It would be nice if the media got around to asking her about it.
You know, after they are done asking Jeb Bush hypothetical questions.
Rand Paul declares Hillary Clinton guilty of ‘dereliction of duty.’
