Gun rights activists are mobilizing against a new assault on the Second Amendment as a New Jersey Democrat is pushing a bill aimed at cutting down online ammunition purchases.
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman introduced the bill Monday, claiming she’s trying to stop “unlimited” ammunition purchases over the Internet. But Second Amendment defenders see something darker at work in the “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act.”

The Democrat’s latest anti-gun stunt comes after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives retreated early this year from trying to ban a popular type of AR-15 ammo. Public backlash stopped the ATF from implementing its heavy-handed regulation, but that doesn’t mean the Democrats will stop trying – not by a long shot.
“Reforming the unregulated online ammo market could prevent the next gun tragedy,” co-sponsor o of the bill Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J. wrote on Facebook.
“Our bill to limit the online sale of ammunition is a long-overdue common sense reform that I am hopeful will spark Congress to put aside party difference and come together to help prevent such senseless tragedies,” Pallone continued.
Constitutional rights used to be something that most people in both parties agreed upon.
