ABC’s Stephanopoulos forced to come clean about HUGE Clinton Foundation donations

ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos longtime ties to the Clintons are causing a serious conflict-of-interest for the network after he was forced to disclose Thursday the fact that he had quietly donated at least $50,000 to the Clinton Foundation over the past two years.

Stephanopoulos reportedly came clean only after Andrew Stiles of the Washington Free Beacon contacted ABC Wednesday about the donations.

“I thought that my contributions were a matter of public record,” Stephanopoulos’ statement to Politico read.

“However, in hindsight, I should have taken the extra step of personally disclosing my donations to my employer and to the viewers on air during the recent news stories about the Foundation.

“I apologize.”

Does the seasoned ABC chief anchor mean he should have disclosed this information to the viewers and critics who’ve raised concerns for months – and years in some cases – for his cozy Clinton connections?

Most brazenly, during an interview on April 26, Stephanopoulos challenged Peter Schweizer, author of “Clinton Cash,” for his claim that there is a “troubling pattern” between donations to the foundation and Clinton’s activities as secretary of state, according to Politico.

“We’ve done investigative work here at ABC News, found no proof of any kind of direct action,” Stephanopoulos defended Clinton.

And if it’s George Stephanopoulos talking about the Clintons, it has to be true. Just like it was in the 1990s when he was a loyal campaign warrior, then White House henchman in Bill Clinton’s first term.

Incredibly, ABC is defending its chief anchor, calling it an “honest mistake.”

Perhaps Stephanopoulos was able to ignore his critics when they were consistently questioning his biased reporting then. But surely he will have to hear them now:
