Sheriff David Clarke says he knows why the death of convicted drug dealer Freddie Gray got more attention than that of decorated New York City police officer Brian Moore. Police lives don’t matter to the mainstream media.
Appearing Tuesday on Fox News’ “Hannity,” the sheriff said there is a political agenda of misrepresenting data that doesn’t support the liberal narrative of police targeting black males.
“There is no pattern. There is no credible evidence to support that law enforcement officers of any race use an inordinate amount of force against black males,” he said.
Clarke said the media is guilty of pushing the false narrative because they “like race politics” and have become the “propaganda wing of leftist policy and leftist ideology.”
While the headlines about Officer Moore’s shooting were restrained, Clarke said they would have been sensationalized if the reverse had occurred.
“If Officer Moore would have shot and killed the black suspect the headline would have been ‘White officer shoots black,” he said.
Clarke added that he would like to see newly sworn in attorney general Loretta Lynch look into whether Moore’s civil rights were violated.
