Speaker John Boehner wants the State Department, not Congress, to search for Hillary Clinton’s missing emails.
”We have no interest in physically having the server,” he told a group of reporters Thursday. “We think the Inspector General at the State Department is the right entity to look at the server, determine what’s private, what’s public and what’s mixed. They’ve got the ability to do that.”
While Boehner wants the Benghazi committee to continue its quest for the emails, he doesn’t want the House itself to do the looking, Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York reported.
“I just think it would be looked at as highly partisan,” he said. “I just frankly think a third party is in a much better position to make this call than us.”
But the Speaker does think the emails exist and are worth pursuing, according to the Examiner.
“They deleted all the Lois Lerner emails, but they keep finding them,” Boehner said. ”You know, these things just don’t go away.”
Yeah John, but if you don’t subpoena the server, who will?
Twitter users blasted Boehner for his decision.
Boehner doesn’t want House itself to search for Hillary emails. Would ‘be looked at as highly partisan.’ Wants IG at State Dept to do it…

@ByronYork If @SpeakerBoehner want the truth he needs to have the FBI or anyone OUTSIDE of STATE! They will cover for her in hopes she POTUS

@ByronYork Why does doing the ethically correct thing always have to be looked at “as highly partisan”? Good grief. Restore public trust.

.@ByronYork Not the kind of “transparency” we were looking for – #TransparentlyComplicit

@ByronYork If Boehener doesn’t have the courage to subpoena the server, then he just GUARANTEED that the truth will never be found.

@ByronYork Boehner is afraid to look for his own shadow. It would truly be shocking to hear that the #GOP actually follows through for once.

@ByronYork Remember when Democrat Sam Ervin was reluctant to appear partisan investigating Nixon’s missing tape? Me neither. cc @johnboehner

@hale_razor @ByronYork @johnboehner With Boehner, it’s only a matter of what moment he caves. There should be a betting line on it.
