Rioters tried to burn him alive, now this Baltimore business owner is ready for a GUN

A Baltimore pizza shop owner said rioters doused him with lighter fluid and attempted to set him on fire. But he’s resolved to remain open and protect himself and his business with firepower of a different sort.

Essam el Ghannam has been scratching out a living baking and selling pizzas at the Papa Palace for the last eight years, according to Independent Journal Review’s Benny Johnson.

As the rioting got progressively uglier, he attempted to close up shop and make a run to his car. One of the rioters, described by him as a girl, about 14 years of age, doused both him and his vehicle with lighter fluid and tried to set him aflame by tossing lit lighters at him.

It appeared to el Ghannam that the girl and her companions did it all “for fun.”

But the experience hasn’t scared him out of maintaining his business — he’s just going to give himself the protection the police denied him — he’s going to buy a gun.

Much of the responsibility can be laid at the feet of Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who told police to give the rioters “space to destroy.”

It’s one screwed up society that allows itself to be dictated by the whims of a 14-year-old girl.
