Riots in Baltimore escalate into war after funeral; gangs issue death threats for cops

The Baltimore police have issued a warnings of a “credible threat” against police officers from street gangs in the wake of the funeral of Freddie Gray while riots ravage the city.

“The Baltimore Police Department / Criminal Intelligence Unit has received credible information that members of various gangs including the Black Guerilla Family, Bloods, and Crips have entered into a partnership to ‘take-out’ law enforcement officers,” Baltimore Police Department Media Relations wrote in a press release.

“This is a credible threat,” it said. “ Law enforcement agencies should take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their officers.”

Meanwhile the city has devolved into a war torn landscape.

Rioters were throwing rocks, bottles and other projectiles at officers during the melee injuring several police.

The escalation followed the circulation of a flier that promised a “purge” starting at the Mondawmin Mall and ending downtown.
