Only in Texas! Supporters hold prayer vigil for Blue Bell ice cream company

Since Blue Bell ice cream announced a massive recall of its product, ice cream lovers have voiced their support for the company in a number of highly unusual ways.

A listeria outbreak that health professionals traced to some of the Texas creamery’s product prompted Blue Bell to pull all of its ice cream from grocers’ shelves and engage in a thorough cleaning of its equipment.

In the interim, the ice cream’s fans are waging a company support program worthy of a presidential campaign — including lawn signs and prayer vigils.

And they’re using social media to call out the troops. Here are a few examples:

One event naysayer was quickly shot down:

Even a local news station showed up at the event to take photos:

Everyone proudly showed off their Blue Bell duds!

Even a family pet showed he was #BlueBellProud and #BlueBellStrong!

And the company responded in kind:

I trust that at least some of those prayers were directed at the families of the three people who died after eating Blue Bell.
