The politically correct fun-suckers are at it again.
This time their victims are two Hollywood actors who had a good laugh over some jokes they made about a fictional character. That’s right, poking fun at imaginary entities will now make you persona non grata in the land of fruits and nuts.
Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans issued formal apologies after making derogatory comments about Scarlett Johannsson’s Black Widow character in the “Avengers” movie series.
Both actors who star in the latest edition, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” were asked about the relationships between the characters when they poked a little fun during an interview with Digital Spy on Wednesday.
“She’s a slut,” Renner said about the Black Widow character who doesn’t actually exist in real life.
Evans got the joke and added, “I was going to say something along that line, she’s a complete whore.”
The actors and interviewer had a chuckle over the absurdity of their silliness and then moved on.
Or at least, they moved on until the predictable backlash ensued. Here’s an example of what the actors encountered (warning for strong language):
The Chris Evans/Jeremy Renner joke about Natasha being a whore and just a flirty sidekick made me cringe. Gross.

I’m actually really fucking appalled and disappointed with jeremy renner and chris evans in that interview with the ableism and slut-shaming — evan | 144 (@halseyadeux) April 23, 2015
Thankfully, there were saner heads who got the joke and realized the actors weren’t talking about a REAL person.
@halseyadeux Don’t take it personal. Read the comics. The character is a bit out there. Its fiction folks

So Chris Evans is problematic because he was being sarcastic and joking about a fictional character? Get a grip, pls.

Even though the actors had plenty of support, they kowtowed to the whiners and issued statements to Entertainment Weekly.
Renner’s statement read, “I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone. It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour.”
Evans wrote, “Yesterday we were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America. We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize.”
Ironically, Evans plays Captain America in the movie they were promoting. It’s too bad he couldn’t have acted a little more like it in real life.
