Must watch video: Teen’s national anthem gets NFL star’s attention in a big way

The national anthem sung by a teenage boy at a Houston Rockets game this week stunned the audience and moved a famous athlete so much, he ran onto the court to shake the teen’s hand.

As Rockets fans cheered, Houston Texans superstar J.J. Watt immediately approached 13-year-old Nicholas Connors after he finished “The Star Spangled Banner” to congratulate him on a job well done.

Connors was visibly taken aback when he recognized the NFL star. Fortunately, the moving incident was caught on camera and featured on “Fox & Friends” Thursday.

Connors attributed the heartfelt emotion that came through in his singing to love of country and his admiration for the military.

He told the“Fox & Friends” cast that although he was suffering from laryngitis and tonsillitis on the night of the performance, “the show must go on.”

Connors’ can-do American spirit paid off, big time.

“I was thinking it was just somebody form the audience [who wanted to say] ‘good job.’ … It took me a second to realize that, oh my gosh, it’s J.J. Watt,” Connors recalled.

“When I saw him, he shook my hand, he hugged me, I almost froze on the spot. I was so shocked.”

Now that the shock has worn off a bit, Connors is back to business saying he hopes to be “up there with all the celebrities” as a professional singer someday.

Many would say he’s well on his way.

Connors’ full performance can be seen and heard below:
