First lady Michelle Obama learned the hard way that it’s not wise to come between an 8-year-old and his love of ketchup.
According to the boy’s father, 8-year-old Peter began working on an open letter to the first lady when he saw that her push for healthier school lunches limited children to just one ketchup packet.

“I think you should rethink your idea that takes us to one ketchup packet per meal,” Peter wrote. “I feel that it is taking away our patriotism toward America.”
A future member of the tea party in the making!
The letter was submitted to The Weekly Standard and has now gone viral.
“We found it on his desk,” his father told The Weekly Standard. “He started it in October, but did not finish it until a couple weeks ago. He said he was ‘too angry’ to go on.”
When Peter was reminded by his mother that he attends private school and the restriction doesn’t apply to him, he displayed a knack for activism, saying he wanted to “give a voice to the voiceless.”
Reporter snaps at Marie Harf: ‘I’m not here to answer YOUR questions’
And he apparently had a few other things on his mind besides ketchup.
Such as President Obama’s disastrous foreign policy in the Middle East… and Ukraine — weighty topics for an 8-year-old. In fact, the topics were a little too weighty for some, who said they simply didn’t believe the boy wrote the letter at all.
Here’s a sampling of a few such responses from Twitter:

“Give me a break, this kid is just parroting his parents or was told what to write…No 8-year-old cares about Syria, presidential speeches or Ukraine! Kid, go outside and play,” wrote a Daily Mail reader.
Peter suggested the president “send some troops to the Middle East, and said he “disappointed millions of Americans by not bombing Syria.” He also advised Obama to “get the UN to send troops to Ukraine.”
“I also think your husband needs to work on his speeches,” he added.
After inquiring about how comfortable the White House is, Peter signed the letter, “A concerned 8-year-old citizen.”
