ROTC members were pressured to wear women’s red heels and parade around Temple University campus in Arizona earlier this month for a “Walk in her Shoes” event designed to raise awareness of sexual assault against women.
But the only thing it seemed to really have promoted was controversy.
Several ROTC members took to various social media outlets to vent their frustration over the event that took place April 1.
A Reddit report stated (warning for strong language):
Similar messages began to spread on the Internet over the humiliating event.
Some folks, however, claimed forcing men to dress in high heels was an act of “progress.”

“The military has always been at the forefront of our society when it comes to civil rights, i.e. desegregation in 1948. It’s amazing what can be accomplished when you don’t have to kowtow to a bigoted evangelical bloc or hick racists,” a supporter wrote on Reddit.
It’s kind of sad that you see this as “experimentation” rather than the natural progression of basic civil rights but it’s okay, we’ll all look back in 10 years and laugh at how silly it was to deny people the simple right to marry each other and what not.”

For every social media proponent of the event, there were many more who voiced their opposition.
“Who’s the rocket scientist that thought this up and how much did it cost the taxpayers and the soldiers?” said one Facebook user.
“Extremely offensive,” read another.
“I don’t get the point here,” wrote a frustrated Facebook user, and added possibly the most relevant question of all, “How does forcing a person in uniform to wear high heels relate to sexual assault against women?????”
Anyone?
