Reporter snaps at Marie Harf: ‘I’m not here to answer YOUR questions’

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf provoked a prickly reply Monday when she tried to turn the tables on a reporter during an exchange on Iran.

Reuters reporter Arshad Mohammed asked Harf to comment on U.S. efforts to change Iran’s behavior.

After a rather long-winded answer, Harf attempted to put words into Mohammed’s mouth when she said, “I agree with you that it’s a challenge.”

“I didn’t say it was a challenge, what I’m trying to get at,” Mohammed shot back.

Then Harf cut him off.  “You don’t think it’s a challenge?”

“I’m not here to answer your questions. I’m here to get answers to mine,” an unfazed Mohammed politely and firmly rebuked Harf.

Clearly put in her place, a smiling Harf said, “OK, well what are you asking specifically?”

Harf’s reaction should be no surprise.

Known for attempting to go toe-to-toe with the media, Harf is accustomed to being coddled by sympathetic and compliant outlets like MSNBC. But when faced with hard-nosed reporters such as Megyn Kelly, she folded like a beach chair.

After the exchange, Mohammed calmly continued the interview, pressing Harf on what the State Department is doing to prevent Iran from funding terror in Lebanon and Syria.

Even after years dealing with the media, Harf’s act isn’t improving. She only gives the administration’s canned talking points, and does it unconvincingly.

It’s wearing thin.
