It took two grueling years and 18 surgeries for a Boston Marathon bombing survivor to get to this moment.
Rebekah Gregory, 27, returned to the event that changed her life and haunted her mind since April 15, 2013. But on this day she walked away, on her prosthetic leg, in triumph.
Gregory held the hand of her trainer, also an amputee, and began to cry. She collapsed as she crossed the finish line.
Only this time the tears were tears of joy.

Before the race, Gregory posted a picture in her running gear on Facebook with the message “This is the day….I take my life back.”
After the race, the Texas mom returned to Facebook, this time with a Bible verse.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” she wrote.
