U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio likely angered both sides of the gay marriage issue Sunday when he declared that states have the right to decide their own marriage laws, but conceded that he doesn’t think homosexuality is a matter of choice.
In an interview with “Face The Nation” host Bob Schieffer, the Forida Republican said while he isn’t against gay marriage, he does believe marriage is between a man and a woman. He said the issue should be decided by state legislatures and not the courts.

“States have always regulated marriage and if a state wants to have a different definition you should petition the state legislature and have a political debate,” Rubio said. “I don’t believe same sex marriage is a constitutional right.
“I also don’t believe that your sexual preferences are a choice for the vast and enormous majority of people,“ Rubio said. “The bottom line is that I believe that sexual preference is something people are born with.”
